Westat is an employee-owned corporation providing research services to agencies of the U.S. Government, as well as businesses, foundations, and state and local governments. Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:

We have an immediate need for an experienced part time dietary coder to input school menu data and assign USDA food codes using the USDA SurveyNet application, as well as support other Dietary Assessment Team project work. Candidate must be able to work 20-25 hours per week, during standard business hours.

Job Responsibilities:

·Successfully complete dietary coder training and probationary coding session.

·Input school menu data and assign food codes using SurveyNet.

·Implement study-specific coding guidelines consistently and accurately.

·Review and perform quality control checks on work completed by other dietary coders.

·Meet productivity and accuracy standards.

·Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

·A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics is required.

·At least six months of experience working in a WIC clinic or school lunch program is required.

Preferred qualifications:

·At least 1 year prior experience as a dietary coder, preferably using SurveyNet.

·Registered Dietitian-exam eligible.

Candidates must have strong computer skills including experience with dietary coding software and Microsoft Office applications.
