Westat is seeking an individual with experience in the health sciences to work with our cancer surveillance group. The candidate should have background knowledge of cancer registries, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology. This position is to work full time at our office in Rockville, Maryland.
·Participate in and contribute to quality control activities.
·Abstraction and medical coding of cancer cases.
·Visual review and editing as well as records consolidation.
·Educational training activities in support of multiple cancer-related research projects.
·A bachelor’s degree in public health or health science related field is required.
·At least 1 year of experience in a related field is preferred.
·CTR certification is preferred.
Experience in a hospital or central cancer registry is highly desirable. Experience with both hospital and central registry operations, experience with data analysis are a plus. Candidates should have excellent communication and organizational skills, be detail oriented and able to work in team environment.
