Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:

Westat is seeking a Survey Statistician to work on ongoing activities around sample selection, survey weighting and survey methods.

Job Responsibilities:

·Assists in sample design, selection, weighting and assessing both sampling and non-sampling errors.

·Performs research related to a variety of issues such as health and education.

·Maintains existing survey progress reports and develops new reports which address customer requirements.

·Applies statistical and mathematical models to quantify research findings.

·Models propensity to respond to surveys.

·Helps identify corrective actions to resolve survey data inconsistencies.

·Develop survey weights that allow inference to national population.

·Analyze survey results to support research into total survey errors, including but not limited to non-response bias.

Basic Qualifications:

·A master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, or Survey Methodology by the time of employment.

Candidates would benefit from knowing SAS and other statistical software/programming packages such as R, Python, Stata or MPlus; although candidates are not required to do programming. Courses in Advanced Statistical Modeling, Complex Survey Data Analysis, or Applied Sampling are desirable.
